What kind of museun is Soun Museum?

this museum was built by Mr. Eitaro Suzuki who had collected
and kept Soun's posthumous works and articles.
Mr. Suzuki used his own savings to build the museum
in order to open his collection of Soun's work to the public.
 The location of the museum is called "Hakusekisanbo"
which is noted in connection with Soun.
Then in April, 1968 Mr.Suzuki donated the museum to Ashikaga city.
Inside the museum, besides the exhibition room there are rooms
for his posthumous works and articles and rooms
for the guests as well.

In the garden there is a two-storied house with a thatched roof
where Soun used to live during his life time.
   The name of the house is "Hakusekisanbo".
Next to Hakusekisanbo there is a tea ceremony house.
On the property it is so quiet that you can hear the birds chirping
and you don't even realize the bustle of the city.
The exhibition is arranged every two months
and most of the exhibition is of Soun's works which
belong to Soun Museum.

Open/ from 9am to 4pm
Closed/ on Mondays, the after a national holidays and the new year holiday period.
Also on the first day of each month it is closed for the rearrangement of the exhibition.
These days may change according to circumstances.

Please take the city bus "Yamanami"
either from Ashikagashi station
on the Tobu line or from Ashikaga station
on the JR line and then get off the bus
at Tori 6chome bus stop.
Another 10 minutes walk from the
bus stop takes you to the museum.



There is a parking lot for 5 cars.
